Our History

The President and CEO of the corporation, Giles Scott, is a service professional having started in the office equipment industry in 1970 as a technician with Xerox in Baltimore MD. In late 1973, he left Xerox and Baltimore for parts unknown and wound up in Northern California; arriving in Sept of 1974 (you may ask Giles what happened in the intervening 12 months, but you have to ask nicely).

Upon arriving in Santa Rosa, Ca, Giles, leveraging his experience with Xerox, secured a position with a small A.B. Dick dealer repairing mimeograph and duplicator equipment. Over the years, Giles spent time with several office equipment dealerships, virtually all of it in the area of customer service--technician; technical supervisor and trainer; and service manager, with a few brief forays into the arena of sales.

In 1994 the company Giles was with was sold to a national dealer and Giles left in 1995 to start Scott's Office Equipment out of his garage.

In 1996 SOE moved out of the Scott's garage into a 1200 sq ft facility (which quickly grew into 2400 sq ft) at 5850 Commerce Blvd. in Rohnert Park, CA.  In October of 1997, Savin Corporation awarded Scott's Office Equipment a full-line dealership servicing 5 North Bay counties (Sonoma, Marin, Napa, Lake and Mendocino) along with Vallejo and Benicia in Solano County. In 2001 SOE moved to their current location at 100 Professional Center Drive in Rohnert Park, CA occupying 4800 sq ft of space.  In 2007, Scott's Office Equipment changed it's name to Scott Technology Group to reflect the diverse nature of the industry we find ourselves in. 

The many years in the service part of the industry as well as the short time in sales gave Mr. Scott a deep appreciation for the needs of the end-user and their office equipment. Office equipment is the last thing business people want to deal with. The equipment we sell and service (copiers, faxes, printers) needs to work well for the business to work. When there's a problem, businesses need and expect a quick response from the repair organization; a quick fix with a minimum of down-time; alternative solutions in case of a delayed repair (loaner, etc.); and no return calls for the same problem. In other words, service professionalism. Service professionalism is Giles Scott's overriding vision and it's what drives Scott Technology Group.
